occasion: world premiere of whip it
blue striped blazer: forever 21, $10
white bubble dress: garage, $15
red quilted flats: aeropostale, $6
bag: h&m, $15

snapped this picture just outside the red carpet. this weekend and the last i managed to cram in two trips downtown for TIFF (toronto international film festival). last sunday, me, L and A checked out the world premiere of whip it and i LOVED it! it was really funny and sweet! if only i was cut out for roller derby...

mm, about the outfit. i love that i bought that dress and waited until after labour day to wear it.
but i love breaking the rules! wish i had taken better makeup pictures, cause i attempted to curl my hair, kinda sorta. and i was wearing this really sweet blue eyeshadow (though i used it as a liner) and a new red lipgloss. oh well! maybe next time! meanwhile, check out pics of drew barrymore and my gorgeous friends. heading off to school now! have a happy monday!

occasion: first day of school/jonas brothers concert
chain necklace: forever 21, $7
purple plaid tunic: sirens, $17
skinny jeans: aeropostale, $20
burgundy flats: aeropostale, $6
(book) bag: h&m, $15

you read that right, i am a repeat outfit offender. but i don't mind =) i think this was a great choice for the first day of school. even consiering that my creative writing prof went rogue and took us outside for classes and i totally got mosquito bites / grass stains. (sounds a lot like my first day of second grade, haha). it was still a good day! i got to catch up with the friends i'd forgotten over the summer and i finally got the nerve to talk to the boy that i always seem to bump into on the way home. fun!

but i want to hear your back to school story! what was it like? what'd you wear? meet any one exciting? how was it?

i'm off to choir practice.
later my lovelies!

for autumn, i'm currently being inspired by:

nude lips, full skirts, gossip girl re-runs, wine red and deep purple, long legs and longer lines the eighties, scarlett (an butt-kicking, name-taking character from the old g.i. joe cartoons), leather, ruffles, and zippers, studs, gilded eyes, hardwood flooring, hugging everyone in sight, bronze, nights by the fire, diane kruger and her flawless, dewy skin, lace, old books, demi lovato, door steps, pool tables, marching bands, truffles, vampire weekend, forest green, denim, imperfection, ballerina rockers, frye boots, pearls, glitter, sequins, blue eyes, thunderstorms, toronto sounds, freshly shaved legs, high ceilings, smudged eyeliner, and bedhead.

and i feel this will result in:

the search for a military jacket in my price range, forest green nailpolish (i've got my eye on the "aragon tomorrow" shade from OPI's espana collection), distressed jeans, any shirt with stud/zipper detailing, hitting more high notes than ever before.

what's inspiring you?

lovely pics from here, here, here and here.

so in my attempts to spend less i tried to resurrect an item from my closet-graveyard. i've had that hooded cotton vest for years, worn it a few times but never again. lately i've been loving the look of vests/waistcoats with tank tops. it's so summery and cute! this outfit was perfect for my friend's gig downtown.

occasion: pub night
black hooded vest; urban behaviour, $15
long purple tank; costa blanca, $20
skinny jeans; bluenotes, $20
studded/bow heels; walmart, $20
huge ring; h&m, $6
long necklace; urban behaviour, $8.
hair pin; (gifted from my sister!)

(song of the day: chasing pavements, adele)

hey! the day's been kind of overcast and so am i. but i hope your weeks going well! mine's been an absolute whirlwind. this catalogue is a little bit different i know. i apologize for the pic spam. just click on each picture to make it bigger. here's what i'm wearing:

top: charlotte russe, $6
high waisted skirt: h&m, $14.50
silver gladiators: aeropostale, $20
necklace: ardene, $6
occasion: hanging out

this week's been interesting, i've barely been home. and i've been finding it really hard to get dressed. i had this special event (sorta) and the temptation to buy something was rough. i ended up making vanilla & raspberry cupcakes to curb the craving. what i found that works?

i had to work harder at drawing fashion inspiration. when i buy things, i tend to wear them place them in particular outfits and then just rewear those outfits instead of continually switching things up. my lookbook expanded exponentially this week. and i made a few new blogging friends in the process. (if they're reading, hi!) if you have a friend who's your size, it's sweet to swap clothes, even if just for the day. my other tip for making what's old feel new? changing my nail polish colour. i'm not sure if you can tell, but i'm rocking some pastel yellow on my toes. it's awesome. it's my go-to way to change up an outfit. but clothes are easy, i just wish people were as easy to figure out...

(song of the day: you and i both, jason mraz)
occasion: church
dress: old navy, $15
brown cami: fairweather, $5
white cardigan: borrowed
silver gladiators: aeropostale, $20

hello summer! i'm loving the weather of late. i wore this to church after the bachelorette and then to my mom's graduation party last sunday. despite a few complications, she did end up being surprised and it was really fun. i don't think i've ever worn as many dresses as i have these last few weeks. i think i'm in love. what's become your go-to summer staple?

(song of the day: love you i do, jennifer hudson)

i'm just posting this, and then i'll get back to studying, i promise! today i'm cataloguing some alternatives to headbands. not that i don't LOVE a good headband, but sometimes i want to change things up.

option #1: a hairband - literally. the other day when i went to the youth group barbecue, i was running late and tearing the house apart cause i couldn't find a hairband that matched what i was wearing, i was kinda thinking "what would match better than my own hair?"

the how to for this one is actually pretty easy. considering i wasn't really following a "recipe." after straightening my hair, i pulled by bangs forward and tied the rest in a ponytail so i could see what i was doing. i lifted up about 1 cm of hair right where my bangs stopped on both sides of my part. i employed the french braiding technique - picking up more in the same 1cm track until i'd reach the end. then i secured them in the back with a bobbypin or to, and ditched the ponytail. voila! i'm not gonna lie, i really like how it came out.

option #2 - use a necklace. last week i was heading out to celebrate victoria day and watch the finale of gossip girl with rachel. headbands were a must! and so were pearls, so i combined the two. it's actually my mom's pearl necklace from the 80s. i was wearing it in my first catlogue look actually, back at the old blog. this one again is super simple, i just folded the necklace and secured it with a little clip in the back, i was trying it out and it actually looks cute with a whole bunch of necklaces! youpi!

today's my sister's brithday. she doesn't know it but we've got so many suprises planned for her. i'm excited for that. and vicki tells me that our jason mraz tickets have arrived, i am SO stoked! needless to say, it's pretty hard to study right now. at least there's only one exam left. back to the books i guess.

so i have about a THOUSAND extra pics from that tutorial i just did, so i'm cataloguing my makeup look to get rid of a few more of them. i started out using this how to from allure as a base and moved from there.

allure suggested using a dark cocoa shadow, so i used the darkest shade in my revlon colourstay eyeshadow quad all over the lid.

i think brown shadow is SO underrated! especially for night time looks like this one. it gives your eyes just enough shimmer without being like "hey! i've got makeup on." c'est parfait!

i did the usual with my eyeliner and mascara (from nyx and rimmel, respectively). the lip stain that i'm still obsessing over is from joe fresh. and that's it for me! no blush or foundation or anything! well i suppose you could also count my mosturizer (something from bioré). and that's all!

now for clothes, i had a black blazer on, but then it got super hot in my bathroom. i realized later that i should've taken some pics with it on, but didn't really want to take any more pictures. (seriously, i took more than 100 in about an hour's time =S) so in terms of clothes:

dangly earrings: H&M, $5
white tee: walmart, $10
the "latika" scarf: garage, $6

okay now. prepare for massive pic spam, after the jump.

so i just noticed i have this super weird tendency to pull on my scarf! i didn't even realize i did that! soooo strange. anyway, if you made it this far, which picture do you like best? i'm in need of a new facebook profile pic! thanks!

(song of the day: so much love, the rocket summer)

occasion: school
yellow hoodie: american eagle, $20
tee shirt tunic: walmart, $6
black leggings: walmart, $5
leather boots: steve madden, $90
belt: mine from when i was a kid
disc earrings: claire's, $8

this is an old look, but as things are warming up i have to use it now or i'll have to wait till next fall! haha. not that i'm complaining. i've been begging for warmer weather for weeks now. i didn't even wear it that long ago, but i really liked it! (ahh! my old hair, and my trademark braidy-bun! :P it's seriously, the only updo i do.) my day was lovely. i love when you're not looking for something, and it finds you anyway. and i love people "who look like the songs that you've heard your whole life coming true." i especially LOVE that song by the rocket summer that has essnetially made my whole day. hope yours was good!

eiffel tower necklace: forever21, $4.80
navy dress: old navy, $15
pantihose: my mom buys them for me! haha
heels: walmart, $20

so this is what i wore easter sunday. a little dark i know, but it was the only new dress i had. that and it was REALLY cold that day, so it kind of suited.

a hair and makeup close up. i used that almay pureblend shadow in lavender. and then braided my hair. hahaha. i swear i haven't been doing this as much as i used to. but for some reason, i've got braids everytime i feel like uploading an outfit. the fact that it's braided today is just a coincidence. hahaha.

and finally, that morning i tested out the last of my OPI minis! i'm totally in love with this light pink (called suzie and the lifeguard). the only thing was though, it took me three coats to get it to that colour. but it's definitely become a new favourite. hopefully i'll get a chance to put another coat on before i have to leave. i've got two hours left and nothing packed... yikes! later days!

(song of the day: here comes the sun, the beatles)

i hope it was beautiful where you live! today was tyhe first sunny day we've had in a while. i wore a dress (with tights, bien sur). but today i'm cataloging the good hair day i had on sunday!!! one of these days though, i'm going to get ready with enough time to take pictures BEFORE i go out so you can see what they really look like! one day though. haha! so! there's a number of things i'd like to call attention to in this top picture. the first being the light purple nail polish (OPI's done out in deco) that managed to last relatively chip free for the last SIX days! (read up on what i found about preventing chips here!) it did take me almost 45 minutes, but i haven't had to do touchups all week! so i'd definitely say it was worth it. unfortunately i don't have a better close up of the makeup. but my eyes were gold and blue!

because we're cataloguing, some detailed info. first i swept cover girl eye enhancers in golden sunrise all over my lids, and then i put a dusty stripe of annabelle's single eyeshadow in bleu nuit along the upper lash line. crazy? yes. but very cool. though i do have to say, this might look a little different if you don't have darker skin. although you're welcome to try it! if you're going to go with blue, i suggest one like bleu nuit, cause it's not TOO bold, or light... or too nineties =P haha. on to hair!

have you heard about bumpits? i've been hearing about them everywhere lately. and i'm slowly beginning to wade my way into it. for sunday service i tried to add a little bump to my regular half updo. it was pretty cute if i do say so myself. but it was hard for me to get it to stay! i took the top part of my hair and used a hairdryer and a round brush to poof it up from underneath. then i clipped it kind of in the middle of my head and hair sprayed the thing like crazy. (i actually use a drug store brand natural hairspray. it smells good - not like aerosol- and holds pretty well!) then i did my bangs and kinda flipped the ends out a little. because my hair was being so co-operative i decided to try and curl my hair for youth group at night.

i'm not sure you can really appreciate just how HARD it is to curl relaxed hair. like you really have no idea. i've had curly hair maybe three times in my entire life?? and the other two times i had to get my hairdresser to do it. i have a curling iron by revlon and i only really curled it from about half way down (i only had an hour) and i still think it looked okay! i got lots of compliments so that was nice! the only makeup i wore was blush (again, revlon's creme blush in blushing mauve) because i didn't want to make it look like i was trying to hard (which i was). but it totally paid off cause i got to talk to the guy i wanted. teehee! (and did i mention how AWESOME kristen is? she waited around for me to gather my cahones and talk to the guy so we could leave. beyond awesome)

anyway, my cousins are over! it's time for me to stop being so anti-social. have a good night!!

-xoxo.

heyheyhey! hope you're having a terrific thursday! today's catalogued look is actually pretty fun. kay. so this morning, i accidentally turned off my alarm instead of snoozing and was all prepared to jump in to my usual "what should i wear" panic. but not today! i booted up my computer and followed my own advice! usually, i don't recommend doing too many things at once, but today it worked. today was a grey day, and i kind of built an outfit too match. no bright pops of colour for me! i did two shirt layers and then the whole leather sweater thing and i wasn't cold all day! it was awesome. that and i got a compliment on it. score! i actually wasn't going to wear the scarf but grabbed it at the last minue and actually really liked the way it came together. and i was actually really comfortable, when i'm usually not.

a close up, of makeup.

i maybe should've taken these at the beginning of the day, cause i had that smokey eye thing going on, but clearly i rubbed it off. and i also should have taken off my glasses, haha. the beauty of hindsight. anyway, some product info. rimmel colour rush quad in smokey noir. with both darker shades on the top and both lighter on the bottom. i used a thin line of eyeliner. (the nyx slim pencil in blackberry) i also used revlon creme blush in blushing mauve, and rimmel's sexy curve mascara in extreme black. ooh and look! pastel purple nails, as promised! and the resident braid. haha.

and i'm just going to put the rest of the pictures up here after the jump, cause i was kinda happy how the rest of them turned out and i don't really have any place else to put them.

that's all from me! have a happy thursday!

happy st. patrick's day to you. working at a party store, i love holidays, but this is one i don't quite understand. you ALMOST had a top ten coming to you about why i don't celebrate it, (i don't believe in drinking for drinking's sake) but i could only come up with five reasons. haha. this isn't even what i was wearing today, but this is one of the few looks i had on my computer before i had to take my camera in to the shop. this was one of my favourite ones in the last little bit. i love the combination of teal and purple! usually i balance it with brown, but i only had black on hand when this picture was taken. i still think it looks okay! i'm kind of upset with those boots, the leather on them's great but the buttons were made really cheaply! anyway, weather permitting, i'll have a spring-ier catalogue look to bring to you next week. classes aside, today was great. i left my jacket at home, wore a dress and read outside in the commons. belle! tomorrow's the real challange, french class! *tears* wish me luck!

on parole

occasion: youth group
necklace: garage, $5
cardigan: garage, $10
tee: american eagle, $15
tank: american eagle $15
jeans: bluenotes, $20

i hate when i don't smile, it looks like "black girl on parole." doesn't help that i look like i'm getting handcuffed. paha. i haven't really felt like smiling in the last little bit. anyway, i wore this to youth group yesterday. i liked that top when i put it on, but quickly realize i'm not such a fan of being the brightest person in a room. at any rate, i'm edging my way into the "brights" trend one toe and a time. i'm sorry i've kinda neglected the blog lately. the last couple days were pretty busy. today has actually NOT been too good. awful actually. thank goodness it's almost over. in an attempt to make myself feel better, i went shopping (of course. though this probably wasn't the best idea when i only have $20 in my bank account, but that's what visas are for!) i bought this yellow scarf solely because of freida patel in slumdog millionaire, but i really do love it. if it's not too glum i'll wear it tomorrow.

this may be the last look i have for a while. i had to get my camera fixed and best buy said it could take four weeks! very upsetting. beyond this blog, i actually use my camera alot and just go take random pictures of random things and it's really gonna suck not being able to do that. anyway, the rest of the week should be tough for me, but i'm hoping for better days! for me and you!

earrings: aeropostale, $2
scarf: urban behaviour, $10
cardigan: garage, $10
tank: american eagle, $15
jeans: bluenotes, $20
chucks: (gifted)
it's been a long time since i wrote anything of importance, my weekend's been super busy. i kind of set this thing up with dfifferent headings and COMPLETELY forgot about this whole catalogue dealy. so i'm catalaguing today's look even though it's super casual cause i had a test today. (i barely studied, but i'm pretty sure i still passed!)

i'm in love with that scarf. but i went back to urban behaviour today only to find it's $15 now... like a sale in reverse? v. strange. and i'm not gonna lie, i was particularily inspired to cuff my jeans cause i saw nick jonas do it on SNL this weekend. i'm not sure if you can really see it, but i love that nail polish i caved and bought the other day. it's the metallic pink of easter eggs. BUT my favourite thing about this is my hair. i'll have a closeup and more info about that tomorrow! have a good evening!
